He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a military police officer before moving into work with people facing homelessness and other barriers to stability. At Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, he progressed from Director of Client Services to Deputy Executive Director and then Executive Director.
Rob later served as Westmoreland County’s first human services director and founded Gridiron Home, a nonprofit providing free youth sports and mentorship. That experience shapes the questions he asks now: What is working? Where is the organization stretched? What must be built so progress lasts?

There, he helped strengthen programs and organizational capacity through periods of change. He has also worked with adolescents, adults, and community partners across human services.

Beginning in 2015, Rob held client services and executive roles at the Pittsburgh organization. As Executive Director, he led through the pandemic while the organization strengthened its programs and operations.

Rob served on the City Council from 2017 to 2021, bringing his commitment to public service into local decision-making.
Westmoreland County
Named the county’s first human services director in 2022, Rob has worked to connect services, partners, and resources around residents’ needs.

THE RESEARCH BEHIND THE METHOD
Rob’s dissertation examined capacity-building efforts in five human service-related nonprofit organizations. He later developed the eight-domain Hamilton Method as a way to connect assessment with priorities, leadership, systems, and continued improvement. The dissertation studied nonprofits; the broader method is his subsequent framework.

Rob founded Gridiron Home, Inc., a Westmoreland County nonprofit that makes structured sports programs, mentorship, and character development available to young people without participation fees. He serves as its president and coaches in the community.
